The AIA Greek Kiln in Tucson has been an experimental project in ancient Greek pyrotechnology. For its construction, Eleni Hasaki used a combination of archaeological and iconographical evidence from ancient Greece to decide on the size and form of the kiln.
The construction of the structure and its ten firings provided valuable insights on the technology and organization of ancient Greek ceramic production. More importantly, the project involved the local, regional, and national community who contributed labor and expertise to this endeavor.
